Upper Mustang Trekking

The Transhimalayan Mustang Region is the Last Forbidden Kingdom, since the region was restricted for outsiders until October 1991. Mustang has a long and rich history that makes one of the most interesting places in Nepal. Most of the people of this region are influenced by Tibetan culture. This route, almost treeless barren Landscape, steep rocky trail up and down the hill and eye-catching panoramic views of Mt. Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Nilgiri and many other beautiful peaks is a very attractive trekking Destination.

The landscapes are similar to Tibetan plateau with its endless expanses of yellow and gray rolling hills. At present Mustang is a very popular trekking region in Nepal.

The trek starts from Pokhara - the city of lakes in the western Nepal and crossing the Annapurna conservation area will get to Upper Mustang. You can either fly to Jomsom walk from all the way from Beni. The trek follows the bank of holy river Kaligandaki and follow the upstream to get to Lo-Mangthang, which is capital of the upper Mustang. On the way you can see the thousand years of old monastery, caves, local tribes and scenic beauties of the different landscapes. The trek to Lo-Manthang is through an almost tree-less barren landscape, a steep rocky trail up and down hill and panoramic views of Nilgiri, Annapurna, Dhaulagiri and several other peaks make your trek wonderfully.
